Peace is the harmonious state of
the spirit and the body of the individual and community in an environment
that is politically, economically, socially, and earthly good and
beautiful. It means more than the absence of warfare or even the
absence of physical violence. To ensure community and family health,
conflicts must be managed or transformed; if they are repressed
they will eventually explode violently. Lasting peace includes the
components that prevent conflicts such as sustainable development,
justice, democratic participation, and conflict transformation.
