The FSSCA, American Jewish World Service, and the Coordinadora del Bajo Lempa collaborated to put together an Alternative Spring Break in March 2001. More than 80 Jewish university students from Stanford, New York University, Tufts, University of Pennsylvania, UC Berkeley, UC Santa Barbara, Columbia University, and UCLA came together to help rebuild communities destroyed by the earthquakes.

The students did solidarity work in Ciudad Romero and other communities, learned about international development and El Salvador's history, and studied social justice from a Jewish perspective.

If you're interested in participating in a future spring break delegation, contact Stephanie Fingeroth at the American Jewish World Service (www.ajws.org).

The students put together their own photo exhibit, which you can see here.
