| When people know how to organize, develop
their own vision, and transform their own communities, they no longer
depend on someone else to improve their lives; they can do it themselves.
Community leadership paves the way for change through projects as
large as digging trenches for irrigation and drinking water, or
as small as setting up a weekly radio program aimed toward raising
ecological awareness and addressing other local concerns. Through
intercommunity training sessions and knowledge sharing, local leaders
are able to learn from others' experiences and bring that knowledge
back and improve their own communities. |
