Culture of Peace

The FSSCA has been working for peace in Central America since its inception, particularly within the context of the Local Zone of Peace project.

This work can be summarized as promoting a Culture of Peace: transforming a culture and heritage of violence into a culture that values and practices peace.

Decades of open and "low intensity" warfare have left their mark on Central America. Although peace agreements in the 1990s brought an end to the civil wars, conflict continues: the years of warfare, lawlessness, and lack of human rights bred a culture of violence.
